district home

Welcome to School District #5 and the 2012-13 school year. We are proud to be part of a community that supports both our academic and activity programs.  We offer a wide variety of curriculum offerings and have fifty percent of our students involved in athletics and other activities such as speech and debate; music; art and drama.  We stand proudly behind our student achievement outcomes and encourage you to review our academic standings by viewing the information on the Curriculum strand of this webpage.

Our district has seen many changes in our community, school configurations and curriculum offerings in the last several years.  We have grown by over 10 percent and as a result, we have modified our facilities and programs in order to support ongoing student achievement and the population growth.  Some building and instructional changes that have been implemented through the generous support of our community levies or bonds include:

  • Opening a new high school in 2005
  • Student commons and cafeteria addition at our original high school in 2006
  • Freshman Academies at both high schools
  • Creating a sixth, seventh and eighth grade middle school model
  • Team shared students at Kalispell Middle School
  • Consolidation of our Alternative high school programs at one site
  • Addition of buildings to our Vocational Agricultural facility
  • Providing all day kindergarten for age appropriate students
  • Adding eight elementary classrooms, a new multipurpose room and Elementary Central Kitchen (opening 2013)
  • Significant growth in our technology tools for both learning and operations
  • Notable program accomplishments with a National Blue Ribbon Elementary School, highest achieving Title elementary school in the state, Nationally recognized AP school and the only International Baccalaureate School in Montana
  • Providing a wide array of interventions and enrichment for all students K-12 that includes summer school, after school, career classes, Running Start classes with our local community college

We look forward to working with you as student, staff member, parent, or community member.  The strength of our schools enhances our community as a whole and we embrace that “Our Kids ARE Our Future.”
